Scurvy presents with bleeding gums,  poor wound healing and extensive bruising.  Although uncommon today &lt;strong&gt;subclinical vitamin C deficiency is common.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;4- 5 servings a day or one supplement&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At least 4 - 5 servings a day of fruit and vegetables are required to maintain adequate vitamin C levels.  Alternatively a supplement can be taken to help &lt;strong&gt;boost a slightly deficient diet&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Vitamin supplements are readily available today in supermarkets, health stores and chemists.
